Leadership Training at Buckley Space Force Base: A Day with SEAC (R) John Wayne Troxell and PME Hard Consulting
On October 8th, 2024, I had the honor of being part of a leadership training event at Buckley Space Force Base in Colorado. Alongside SEAC (R) John Wayne Troxell, we led a full day of training for 70 guardians from the United States Space Force, focused on leadership principles drawn from bestselling author Jon Gordon’s The Power of Positive Leadership and The Power of a Positive Team.
The event, organized by Space Operations Command Headquarters, was a fantastic opportunity to engage with an enthusiastic group of NCOs, all of whom were eager to add new tools to their leadership toolbox. From start to finish, the energy in the room was incredibly positive, and the leaders were fully committed to absorbing the lessons and sharing their experiences.
A Day of Engaging Leadership Training
Over the course of eight hours, the guardians participated in a series of engaging activities designed to apply these concepts to real-world leadership challenges. The training wasn’t just about listening; it was about getting hands-on with the material and working together as a group. From group discussions to personal reflections, the participants were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and truly engage with the material.
The enthusiasm in the room was contagious. Even the more reserved participants were quick to share their thoughts and ideas, contributing to aN EXCITING AND ENERGETIC learning environment. It was clear that these leaders were not only excited to learn but also committed to applying the lessons they were gaining to improve their teams.
Positive Feedback and Lasting Impact
The feedback from the guardians was overwhelmingly positive. Many of the participants expressed excitement about using the leadership tools they’d learned to build stronger, more positive teams. It was incredibly rewarding to see these future leaders of the Space Force inspired and motivated to implement these strategies in their day-to-day work.
A Special Thank You
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the leadership at Space Operations Command Headquarters for making this training event possible. A special thanks also goes out to MSgt Jacqueline Jauregui, MSgt Amanda Kravchuk, and SMSgt Reuben McClendon for their efforts in organizing the event and ensuring everything ran smoothly.
The success of this training was a testament to the guardians’ commitment to growing as leaders and to the incredible teamwork that made this event possible. I look forward to seeing the positive impact of these lessons in the future of the United States Space Force.
